Bespoke Costume Prop Engineering for Santander’s “Grand Finale”

MACHINESHOP designed, engineered, and fabricated a collection of highly specialized, custom practical props for Santander’s major “Grand Finale” advertising campaign. Tasked with bringing a distinct, playful visual element to the high-profile banking spot starring TV duo Ant and Dec, our special projects workshop turned creative wardrobe concepts into structural realities.

Our prop-making team focused on delivering high-fidelity, wearable assets designed to handle close-up camera scrutiny under studio lighting. The embedded project commercial captures the sharp, pristine finish and comedic execution of these custom costume pieces on set.

Advanced 3D Printing & Custom Headwear Prop Fabrication

Replicating oversized, organic, and graphic objects to sit perfectly on a model’s head requires meticulous weight balancing, structural durability, and flawless surface finishing. Our workshop team executed a precise fabrication pipeline to build the custom hats:

  • Bespoke Wearable Hat Engineering: Designing custom structural headbands and internal supporting matrices to ensure the heavy prop objects sit comfortably and remain completely stable during actor choreography.
  • Industrial-Grade 3D Printing: Utilizing high-resolution 3D printing to output the complex geometries of the custom prop items with clean structural integrity.
  • Camera-Ready Modelling & Hand Finishing: Executing detailed sanding, smoothing, and surface priming to eliminate artificial tooling lines, making the wearable assets macro close-up ready.
  • Vibrant Brand Paint Applications: Applying premium, high-contrast automotive paint systems to ensure the funky prop objects pop vividly on camera against the studio backdrop.
