Bespoke Magic Prop Fabrication for Princess Cruises’ “Spellbound”

MACHINESHOP collaborated with Carnival Corporation to design, engineer, and fabricate a series of highly specialized, custom interactive props for “Spellbound” by Princess Cruises. Created in partnership with Hollywood’s famous Magic Castle, Spellbound is a premium, immersive dining and entertainment experience aboard the Star Princess cruise ship. To elevate the mystery of the themed rooms, close-up theatre spaces, and magic shows, our special projects team crafted a selection of unique artifacts—each engineered with a hidden, magical twist.

Custom Mechanical and Special Effects Prop Builds

Operating under strict maritime standards and cruise ship longevity requirements, we developed and delivered five primary illusion props for the venue:

• Magic Castle Snow Globe: A highly detailed custom snow globe prop styled meticulously after Hollywood’s iconic Magic Castle architecture.
• The Absinthe Decanter: A specialized mechanical hospitality prop built to enhance tableside magic and immersive theatrical narratives.
• Ship in a Bottle: A classic maritime installation modified with hidden internal special effects to surprise and enchant diners.
• Interactive Neil Patrick Harris Portrait: A custom-framed portrait prop engineered with embedded mechanics.
• Replica 1960s Television Set: A bespoke retro TV cabinet prop housing tailored AV displays and custom electronic automation cues.
