Bespoke On-Set Wind Systems for MAC Cosmetics’ “Holiday 2025” Campaign

MACHINESHOP engineered and delivered precision practical wind effects for the high-end “Holiday 2025” global campaign for MAC Cosmetics. Directed by the highly stylized, vibrant vision of Charlotte Rutherford and starring model Alex Consani, this premium beauty and fashion commercial relies on safe, dynamic in-camera physics to elevate wardrobe movement and create a floating aesthetic.

Our special effects crew worked directly on the soundstage to choreograph the air streams, giving the illusion of flight. The embedded campaign film and behind-the-scenes video showcase the precise technical coordination required to deliver “wind beneath her wings” flawlessly without disrupting high-definition tracking cameras.

Advanced Wind Engineering & Studio Atmospheric Calibration

Executing high-velocity fashion wind effects for beauty brands demands strict velocity calibration, precise physical placement, and seamless synchronization with stunt wire-work and camera tracking setups:

  • Custom 2ft Handheld Fan Rigging: Deploying powerful, high-velocity 2ft handheld fans from our wind fleet to allow technicians to dynamically track talent movement and throw targeted gusts on location.
  • Flawless Wardrobe and Hair Aerodynamics: Positioning variable-speed air movers to generate smooth, continuous fabric lift, enhancing the commercial’s ethereal, floating themes.
  • Rigid Take-to-Take Technical Continuity: Maintaining perfectly identical physical airflow paths across multiple frames, enabling the production crew to lock down the multi-unit fashion plates effortlessly.
