Behind the scenes
Bespoke Old School Television Prop for Everything is Recorded’s “Swamp Dream #3”
MACHINESHOP engineered and custom-built an authentic prop vintage TV for the cinematic music video “Swamp Dream #3” by Everything is Recorded featuring Mary in the Junkyard. Tasked with delivering an iconic, retro focal point for the set dressing, our special projects team built this old-school television set from scratch to seamlessly anchor the video’s surreal aesthetic.
Our prop-making department engineered the unit to handle close-up camera scrutiny under moody studio lighting. The embedded music video and behind-the-scenes engineering logs capture the meticulous construction phase, woodwork, and final texturing required to deliver an immaculate, camera-ready finish on set.
Advanced Prop Making & Vintage Cabinet Replication
Replicating mid-century electronic appliances for high-definition music promos requires precision woodwork, custom composite moulding, and realistic artificial aging techniques:
- Bespoke Old School TV Fabrication: Structurally engineering a custom retro cabinet frame from scratch, matching the precise architectural aesthetics of period-accurate televisions.
- Precision Model Making & Detailing: Fabricating tactile analogue dials, vintage channel switch knobs, and trim details that operate smoothly and look flawlessly authentic to the era.
- Camera-Ready Screen Integration: Fitting the custom chassis with a screen element designed to photograph cleanly without catching harsh studio reflections or camera lens glare.
